3Shape integrates Straumann abutments into CAD software
by Dental Tribune International

COPENHAGEN, Denmark: Global supplier of 3-D scanners and CAD/CAM software solutions for dental professionals 3Shape has announced a new feature to its Dental System software. The Straumann library is now part of 3Shape’s system, supporting the bone-level and tissue-level implant systems from the global dental implant manufacturer.

According to 3Shape, the new library enables dental technicians to model two-piece customised abutments using a pre-manufactured titanium base with a customised zirconia abutment top. In order to fabricate the designed restoration, the original implant and titanium base must be obtained from Straumann. The customised zirconia part can be milled locally in the laboratory or milling centre.

The company has announced that the Straumann Variobase library is now available to users of 3Shape’s Dental System software. Further information on obtaining and integrating the library is available through the company’s distributors.
