Judging from the crowds on the exhibit hall floor here at the International Dental Show in Cologne, high-tech digital dentistry is a prime focal point of attendees’ interest - and that includes the lasers that are a specialty of leading dental laser manufacturer and distributor Biolase.
A combination of a YSGG laser and water spray, Biolase’s WaterLase technology is a high-tech alternative to the conventional dental drill for any surgical procedure.
“We’re the first company to truly revolutionize how surgery is performed in dentistry, with a brand new surgical instrument,” said Biolase CEO Federico Pignatelli. “WaterLase technology is safe, anti-bacterial, biological and virtually painless to patients.”
In the past 13 years since WaterLase technology hit the market, Biolase has sold more than 22,000 lasers worldwide. Its distribution network covers 70 countries around the world, including new distributor agreements with companies in Bulgaria, Romania and South Africa.
“We’re growing very rapidly, and we expect the production of WaterLase and diode laser technology to grow exponentially from today into the near future,” Pignatelli said. “We are just on the cusp of adoption of laser technology in dentistry.”
The newest product from Biolase is the EPIC Total Diode Solution, which can be seen here at the IDS. It’s described by the company as being packed with one category-exclusive feature after another, setting a new standard in diode laser performance and value. A graphical touchscreen gives dentists fingertip access to as many as 20 common soft-tissue procedure presets — plus 20-minute full-mouth whitening and FDA-cleared temporary pain relief.
Other products at the booth include WaterLase iPlus, WaterLase MDX and WaterLase MD Turbo, BIOLASE’s full range of all-tissue laser devices. The WaterLase MDX and WaterLase MD Turbo are described as being ideal for practices seeking a basic, lower-cost entry point for all-tissue laser dentistry.
Visitors to the Biolase booth can check out the EPIC for themselves as well as get a close-up look at the WaterLase technology.
“They can learn how the technology works, the clinical advantages and how easy and effective it is to perform surgery with the WaterLase,” Pignatelli said. “We welcome attendees to come to our booth and learn about this revolutionary dentistry.”
