SALT LAKE CITY/MELVILLE, N.Y., USA: The CAO Group, a U.S.-based manufacturer of dental lasers, has announced the introduction of its new Precise SHP Diode Laser System. According to the company, it is the first diode laser system with an iPod touch mobile touch-screen interface and has received FDA clearance for a variety of treatments.

According to CAO, the product was designed to enhance everyday dental procedures, such as removing inflamed tissue, shaping gingival contours and laser-assisted in-office professional teeth whitening. In addition, practitioners can avoid common difficulties of scalpel use, including bleeding, infection and pain. It is also the first diode laser system in the industry to include sterilized tips.

In addition to real-time technical support at the touch of a button, the device features step-by-step instructions, laser procedure demonstrations and training videos. FaceTime, a video telephony application developed by software specialist Apple, can be used to contact CAO technical, clinical and customer support staff directly.

The product is currently available in the U.S. only and is distributed exclusively by Henry Schein Dental, one of the world's largest providers of health care products and services.
