Infection control group launches social media campaign
by Dental Tribune International

OXNARD, Calif., USA: Together with DUX Dental, a global manufacturer and distributor of dental products, a group of U.S. dentists, hygienists and dental assistants has formed a coalition called Support Clean Dentistry. This week, the group announced its first social media campaign, which is aimed at promoting infection control and encouraging communication between dental professionals and their patients about this topic.

In order to stimulate communication about infection control in the dental environment, Support Clean Dentistry has released three videos that humorously capture interactions between a dental patient and a hygienist. The characters portray typical emotions expressed by dental patients and challenging situations dental professionals have to handle.

The overall aim of the campaign is to educate dental patients about infection control standards and to empower them to communicate with their dental care professional about infection-related concerns, such as cross-contamination through bib clips or gloves. In addition, the group hopes to encourage dental professionals to explain their infection prevention and control practices to their patients.

The videos, as well as animated GIF images and other visuals for online sharing, can be found on the initiative's website, http://www.supportcleandentistry.com/, and on various social media channels, including Twitter and Facebook.
