ESSEN, Germany: The Red Dot Design Award, an international design prize, recognises the best product designs annually from various industries, including the dental industry. Now, manufacturers and designers worldwide are once more being called upon to submit their latest products for the 2014 Red Dot Award in Product Design.

Next year, products in 23 categories, ranging from interior design to consumer electronics, will be evaluated by a panel of more than 30 experts according to various criteria, including innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and sustainability.

The most outstanding designs and most innovative solutions will be officially honoured during the traditional Red Dot Gala, which will be held on 7 July 2014 at the Aalto Theatre, an opera house in Essen in Germany. In addition, all products awarded will form part of the four-week exhibition held at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen called Design on Stage—Winners Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014.

In 2013, more than 1,865 companies and designers from 54 countries entered 4,662 products. Among the award winners were well-known companies in the dental industry, such as the Acteon GroupA-decEMS and Sirona Dental Systems.
