Sirona reaches 50,000 Facebook likes

BENSHEIM, Germany/SALZBURG, Austria: The growing influence of social media in the dental industry and other businesses has made it imperative for companies to learn more about such platforms to share information with their customers. Now, Sirona, one of the world’s largest dental technology manufacturers, has announced that its official Facebook page has reached a community of over 50,000 users in only 18 months.

Sirona commenced its social media activities in April last year alongside the relaunch of its corporate website. Since then, the manufacturer has seen a continuous increase in “likes” on Facebook, with nearly 3,000 new Facebook fans per month. Its page reached 50,000 fans on 8 November, the company stated in a press release.

“The social networks make possible what we in sales and marketing could only dream of a few years ago: direct dialogue with users, interested dentists, dental technicians and trade partners, as well as a deeper understanding of their needs,” said Veit Salentinig, Sirona’s Global Brand Director.

Overall, the company participates on eight online platforms, including Twitter, Pinterest and Google+, as well as the business platforms LinkedIn and XING. However, Facebook remains one of the most important platforms for Sirona’s social media involvement, the company stated.

“Of our social media communication, the Sirona Facebook page is one of the most important channels for interactive exchange with our target groups. Many dentists now actively participate in the discussions on our platform or post their own content,” said Andreas Blauig, the company’s Corporate Social Media Manager.
