COPENHAGEN, Denmark: Danish company 3Shape, which specialises in 3-D scanners and CAD/CAM software solutions, has recently released the next generation of its CAD/CAM design system. According to the company, Dental System 2014 is aimed at increasing the level of productivity and range of services that dental laboratories offer.
“With this 2014 release, we have focused strongly on optimising the design workflows and improving usability for users of all levels,” said Flemming Thorup, 3Shape’s president and CEO. In addition to new dental indications, the system has a redesigned user interface, allows for an optimised workflow for TRIOS digital impressions, and enhances scanning speed and accuracy.
For instance, Dental System 2014 features an auto-crown function, which automatically positions and shapes designed crowns to fit neighbouring teeth and antagonists, software packages for CAD of common dental appliances, as well as for implant planning, prosthetics, and design of surgical guides.
In addition, 3Shape has announced that upgrading to Dental System 2014 will include the company’s LABcare, a package that ensures users continuously obtain new technologies through annual software releases. LABcare also gives subscribers access to 3Shape’s support network and to training channels, such as webinars and videos.
Dental System 2014 will be available through 3Shape’s distributors. Availability of the system may depend on the specific system configuration of each end-user.
